The MegaRAID 9500 series is the industry's first PCIe Gen4 RAID adapter series, providing PCIe Gen4 hosts and storage interfaces. The MegaRAID 9560-16i adapter is based on SAS3916 high port PCIe 4.0 x8 on-chip RAID (RoC), with twice the performance compared to previous generations of products. The 9560-16i uses Broadcom the third mock examination SerDes technology to run NVMe, SAS, or SATA devices in a single drive bay for unlimited design flexibility

The 9560-16i is compatible with the existing PCIe SFF-8639 module (U2) backplane, allowing users to improve performance in today's growing bandwidth environment. Combined with two industry plans to expand the deployment of the third mock examination SerDes technology, the 9560-16i helps to obtain maximum performance and flexibility from the U.3 backplane:

With the third mock examination SerDes technology, MegaRAID 9560-16i can run in all three modes at the same time to provide services for NVMe, SAS or SATA drives. Adapters negotiate between speed and protocol to seamlessly work with any of the three types of storage devices. Three mode support provides a non disruptive way to develop existing data center infrastructure.
