The explosive growth of data in the cloud and enterprise data centers has driven higher performance storage interfaces that can accelerate the ability of critical applications to access data. Bo Tong's first market-oriented 12Gb/s SAS solution aims to provide the functionality required for the next generation server and storage platforms with the most demanding performance and data protection requirements. The data transfer rate is twice that of a 6Gb/s SAS solution, and 12Gb/s SAS enables the SAS infrastructure to provide bandwidth and fully utilize PCI Express® through a single bandwidth; 3.0 bandwidth controller card. MegaRAID SAS 9361-4i has four internal ports and can provide two 1.2GHz PowerPC® 1 bit DDRIII interface for processor core and driver 72GB cache. With LSI SAS 3108 dual core ROCs, the 9361-4i controller includes the latest PCI Express 3.0 and 12Gb/s SAS technology to help users support hard disk drives (HDDs) and maximize the performance advantages of Solid-state drive (SSDs).
Enterprise Data Protection
Standard support for the most popular RAID levels and attachments, including RAID 5, RAID 6, and CacheVault® The MegaRAID SAS 9361-4i features a flash protection module that further enhances data protection capabilities. The new enterprise functional controller adopted by 12Gb/s MegaRAID SAS is an advanced driver diagnostic technology. If a physical drive fails, the drive will be placed in a masked state and the MegaRAID controller will initiate a drive diagnostic program to determine if the drive has indeed failed or can be recovered. This saves customers time, money, and computational time associated with temporary drive failures and unnecessary drive returns.
Support for advanced software options
The 12Gb/s MegaRAID controller series is designed to support Broadcom advanced software to provide option capabilities for system integrators and VARs to enhance performance and data protection. These software options can help end users solve critical business challenges while also helping to achieve higher IT investment returns. MegaRAID CacheCache™ Pro 2.0 software (optional) and MegaRAID Fast path software (included) can improve solid state transactional I/O performance state disk configuration, while SafeStore™ Software can achieve enhanced data protection and security when used with devices that support encryption.
