Next generation high port SAS RAID
Broadcom MegaRAID® SAS 9361-16i, in a compact form factor, offers two 1.2 GHz PowerPC processor cores and a 3-bit DDR2 interface that drives a 72 GB cache. The provider SAS3316 dual core ROC has 16 native SAS/SATA ports, and the 9361-16i controller can fully utilize the latest PCI Express 3.0 interface to provide higher performance and throughput. 12 gigabytes per second MegaRAID SAS 9361-16i is designed specifically for configuring high-density storage with up to 16 drives on the server, directly connected within the chassis or utilizing up to 240 drives using SAS extender technology.
Enterprise Data Protection
The Broadcom MegaRAID SAS 9361-16i RAID controller supports data retention by using NAND flash memory on the controller, and supports backup by CacheVault™ Power module 02 (CVPM02) connection. The CVPM02 module is a supercapacitor bank that provides power for data backup, such as host power outage or server failure events. The CVPM02 module is remotely connected to the controller through a cable. Backup data to flash memory on the NAND super disk array controller board.
The standard supports the most popular RAID levels, including RAID 5 and RAID 6, further enhancing MegaRAID SAS 9361-16i.12 Gb/s with new enterprise features. The MegaRAID SAS controller is an advanced drive diagnostic technology. If a physical drive fails, the drive will be in a protected state, and the MegaRAID controller will initiate a drive diagnostic program to determine if the drive has indeed failed or can be recovered. This saves customers time, money, and computational time related to temporary drive failures and unnecessary computational time, as well as drive returns.
